Tips for Success

These tips provide suggestions for application materials, clothing options, and other recommendations aimed at preparing you for the Program.

Tip #1

Proofread Your Application

The application you submit upon applying is what the judges will receive, AND what will be read on stage during the night of the Program.

Have a friend or a parent (or two!) look over your application. This will help eliminate any errors and create a good first impression with the judges!

Plan Outfits in Advance

All outfits must be approved by the Director prior to the Program. Plan your outfits early to ensure that they are properly-fitted and ready to go for competition.

Tip #2

Tip #3

Practice Your Speech and On-Stage Question

Avoid stage-fright by practicing your speech and possible on-stage questions well before competition night. Speech prompts are given to contestants simultaneously, and a list of possible on-stage questions will be given to each contestant. Practice in the mirror or have a friend talk through the questions with you!

Be Yourself!

Wear that favorite blazer or prom dress, and have a memorable night with your fellow contestants! Don't worry about comparing yourself to others, as the judges want to get to know the real you! Regardless of the result, participating in this program builds life skills such as confidence, public speaking, and leadership.
